The statement of Dalian Sam’s Club Opening Day Adjustment by Walmart China

Dec. 08, 2011

Because the store’s relevant compatible public facilities haven’t been completed yet and northern China has already entered winter season, it brings great difficulty to construction work. We are grateful for the great support given by various Dalian authorities. We will coordinate relevant parties to push forward the construction work. To guarantee the store meets government and our company’s strict requirements on construction, safety and compliance, we have determined that we must postpone Dalian Sam’s Club’s originally planned opening day of December 2011 until the 2nd quarter of 2012 due to circumstances beyond our control. New opening day will be announced later. We hope to work together with relevant parties and open the Club in the 2nd quarter of 2012.

We sincerely apologize to our member customers for any inconvenience. We promise that all member benefits won’t be affected and membership validity starts at opening day. We will try to push forward construction work in order to allow our members to experience Sam’s Club’s high quality merchandise and service as early as possible. We will maintain close communication with members, provide updates on construction work, sincerely listen to members’ suggestion, so as to provide better merchandise and service.

Sam's Club is Walmart's membership store format. It is highly recognized among customers because of its spacious and comfortable shopping environment, as well as its best quality merchandise and world-class service for business and individual members. Dalian is an important market with great potential for Walmart China. It is the city where we opened the first store in northern China and it also has most Walmart stores among all second-tier cities. We will continue to bring more best quality merchandise, world-class service to Dalian residents.
