Wal-Mart Opens its Second Store in Nanchang

Sep. 14th, 2006, Nanchang, – Today, Wal-Mart celebrated the grand opening of its second store in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province – Wal-Mart Supercenter Jiefang Road West Store. Mr. Yu Xinrong, Secretary of Nanchang Municipal Party Committee, and Mr. Li Douluo, Mayor of Nanchang city attended the ceremony. Attendees from Wal-Mart included Mr. Joe Hatfield, Senior Vice President of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and President & CEO of Wal-Mart Asia, Mr. Stanley Yu, Vice President & COO of Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co., Ltd.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Li Douluo expressed his welcome to Wal-Mart and appreciation for its investment in Nanchang city. He said, the new store will further promote the local circulation and manufacture industry and help build the city’s image.

Mr. Stanley Yu, Vice President & COO of Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said that Wal-Mart had operated 63 outlets in 32 cities since it entered China ten years ago. Up to now, Wal-Mart employs near 32,000 associates in China with an investment up to RMB1.7 billion. Wal-Mart has become a favorite destination of more and more shoppers thanks to its good customer service and high quality merchandise at Every Day Low Price. We are confident that the new store will be well received by Nanchang residents and contribute to Nanchang’s economy.

Located on the 2-3 floor of Jiaxinmao Square, No. 87, Jiefang Road West, Qingyunpu District, the new Wal-Mart Supercenter has a floor area of 18,000 square meters. It offers nearly 20,000 merchandises, including fresh foods, apparels, household electrical appliances, etc. It also has special service areas featuring optical service, jewelry service and photo service. As a return to customers’ support, Wal-Mart Nanchang store offered great value merchandise and provided a series of retailtainment events during the opening.
