Wal-Mart Opens Its First Supercenter in Jiaxing

Jiaxing, August 17th , 2006 – Today, Wal-Mart celebrated the grand opening of its first store in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. Officials from Jiaxing Municipal Government joined leaders from Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co., Ltd. at the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, officials from various government organizations expressed their welcome and appreciation for the Wal-Mart Store in Jiaxing city. They expect that Wal-Mart will continue to bring along advanced retail expertise and to promote the development of logistics and manufacture industry. Mr. Stanley Yu, Vice President & COO of Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said that Wal-Mart had operated 60 outlets in 30 cities since it entered China almost ten years ago. Jiaxing Store is the 61st outlet we opened in China. Wal-Mart is confident that it will be well received by Jiaxing residents and will contribute to Jiaxing economy.

Located at the west part of Hongxing Road, and faced Xiuzhou District Government building, the new Wal-Mart Supercenter has a floor area around 15,000 square meters, offering nearly 20,000 merchandises ranging from fresh foods, apparels, household electrical appliances etc. It also has three special service areas featuring optical service, jewelry and photo service. As a return to customers’ support, Wal-Mart Jiaxing store offers great value merchandises and provides a series of entertainment events during the grand opening.
