Wal-Mart China Celebrates 10th Anniversary
with Customers

August 12th, 2006, Shenzhen – Around 500 customers from
11 neighborhoods where a Wal-Mart store is located in Shenzhen
gathered at Wal-Mart Supercenter Shekou Store to celebrate Wal-Mart
China’s 10th anniversary.
On behalf of the Company, James Lee, Wal-Mart China Vice President,
expressed his heartfelt thanks to all customers and associates. ”Over
the past ten years, Wal-Mart has opened 60 stores in 30 cities
across China. Wal-Mart is committed to providing customers with
a wide assortment of products at Every Day Low Prices and outstanding
service. As a good corporate citizen, Wal-Mart will continue
to be actively engaged community activities.”
At the celebration event, both Wal-Mart Supercenter and Sam’s
Club gave public recognition to some customers and members who
have been loyal shoppers at Wal-Mart. The celebration was highlighted
by a variety show of performances by both customers and associates.
As the world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart opened its first
Sam’s Club and Supercenter in Shenzhen on August 12, 1996.
The Company’s unique Every Day Low Price policy and the
one-stop shopping experience helped change people’s shopping
habits. In addition, Wal-Mart has also brought along new concept
and expertise to Shenzhen's emerging retail industry.
Thanks to ten years of efforts, Wal-Mart has opened 11 units
of three different formats in Shenzhen including eight Supercenters,
one Sam’s Club and two Neighborhood Markets. Across China,
Wal-Mart runs 60 stores in 30 cities with more than 30,000 employees.

Excellence, and engages in providing quality and affordable goods
and good customer services. In the past ten years, Wal-Mart has
brought with it advanced management expertise to China’s
retail industry and provided local customers with good merchandise
and services. Wal-Mart has been actively participating in various
charitable programs. Since 1996, Wal-Mart’s donations to
various charitable organizations have exceeded RMB 23 million
and its associates have spent over 120,000 working hours in those
charity activities.
