Wal-Mart Greets Customers
in Dongguan

Dongguan: June 13th, 2006 – Today, Wal-Mart Supercenter
Dongguan Chang’an Store opens to greet customers. It is
the second outlet Wal-Mart opens in Dongguan city since the first
one opened in 1997.
Following the Company’s tradition of Good Works, Wal-Mart
donated RMB 100,000 to Chang’an Town Nursing Home as a
fund for its imperative need on the living facility and safety
devices’ furnishment. Respecting and helping the aged is
the traditional virtue of China, Wal-Mart hopes that its effort
can help raise people’s awareness of caring for the elders.
Wal-Mart has been actively participating in various charitable
programs. Since 1997, Wal-Mart’s donations to various charitable
organizations have exceeded RMB 23 million.
Officials from various government organizations expressed their
welcome and appreciation for the second Wal-Mart Store in Dongguan
city. They expected that Wal-Mart continue to bring along advanced
retail expertise and to promote the development of logistics
and manufacture industry. Wal-Mart had operated 57 outlets in
28 cities since it entered China almost ten years ago. Chang’an
Store is the 58th outlet we opened in China. During nine years
of operation, the first store in Dongguan — Donghu Store
has become a favorite destination for more and more shoppers
thanks to its high quality merchandises at low prices and wonderful
one-stop shopping experience. Wal-Mart is confident that it will
be well received by Dongguan residents and will contribute to
Dongguan economy.
Located on the second and third floor of Chang’an Pearl
Plaza at Changqing Road in Dongguan, the new Wal-Mart Supercenter
has a floor area around 17,000 square meters, offering nearly
20,000 merchandises ranging from fresh foods, apparels, household
electrical appliances etc. It also has three special service
areas featuring optical service, jewelry and photo service. As
a return to customers’ support, Wal-Mart Chang’an
store offered great value merchandises and provided a series
of entertainment events during the grand opening.
