Wal-Mart Fourth Store
in Fuzhou Opens

Fuzhou, April 20, 2006 – Today, Wal-Mart celebrated the
grand opening of its fourth store in Fuzhou, Fujian Province – the
Wal-Mart Supercenter Gushan Store, located opposite to Gushan
Town Government Building, Jinan District. Officials from Fuzhou
Municipal Government and Jinan District Government joined Mr.
Rene Mang, Vice President & CAO of Wal-Mart (China) Investment
Co., Ltd. at the opening ceremony.
Following the Company’s tradition of Good Works, Wal-Mart
donated RMB 100,000 to Gushan as a long-term fund for the cleanup
of Pudong River in Gushan. Wal-Mart hopes that its effort can
help raise people’s awareness of environment protection
and therefore contribute to the construction of an environment-friendly
city. Wal-Mart has been actively contributing to various charitable
programs. Since 1997, Wal-Mart’s donations to various charitable
organizations have exceeded RMB 21 million.
At the opening ceremony, officials from various government organizations
expressed their welcome and appreciation for the fourth Wal-Mart
Store in Fuzhou city. They expect that Wal-Mart will continue
to bring along advanced retail expertise and to promote the development
of logistics and manufacture industry. Mr. Rene Mang, Vice President & CAO
of Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said that Wal-Mart
had operated 56 outlets in 28 cities since it entered China almost
ten years ago. Wal-Mart has become a favorite destination of
more and more shoppers thanks to its high quality merchandise
at low prices under the philosophy of “Every Day Low Price”.
Gushan store is the 57th store Wal-Mart opened in China and the
fourth one in Fuzhou. Wal-Mart is confident that it will be well
received by Gushan residents and will contribute to Fuzhou economy.
Located on the second and third level of Dongfang Weiye Business
Square at the cross of Fuma Road and Zhaoxian Road in Jinan District,
the new Wal-Mart Supercenter has a floor area of 18,000 square
meters, the biggest Wal-Mart store in Fuzhou. It offers nearly
20,000 merchandises, including fresh food, apparel, household
electrical appliances and cosmetics, etc. It also has three special
service areas featuring optical service, jewelry and one-hour
photo service.
