Wal-Mart Celebrates Customer
Service Day with Customers
Mar 12, 2006
March 12th, 2006 – Wal-Mart invited hundreds of customers
from 11 communities in Shenzhen for its annual Customer Service
Day celebration. Both Wal-Mart associates and the customers enjoyed
themselves through festive singing and dancing in front of the
Shekou Supercenter.
Celebrating the Customer Service Day in March every year has
become a Wal-Mart China’s tradition. It is the fifth consecutive
year that Wal-Mart has hosted such event. According to the China
Consumers Association, the theme of this year’s Customer
Service Day is Consumption & Environment. Representatives
from the Shenzhen Consumers Association explained the significance
of Consumption & Environment and praised Wal-Mart for its
efforts in promoting a safe consumption environment and organizing
the annual Customer Service Day event.
When Mr. Sam Walton established Wal-Mart more than 40 years
ago, he introduced the innovative conception of Every Day Low
Prices (EDLP). Thanks to the concerted efforts with its suppliers,
Wal-Mart was able to achieve EDLP through promoting production
efficiency and reducing operation costs, thus saving customer’s
money. It is EDLP that makes Wal-Mart to a global enterprise
from a small store in the U.S. hinterland. Now, the meaning of
EDLP has been expanded to include zero waste and environmental
protection. This is the same as not only the spirit of Consumption & Environment,
but also the current effort of making China a resource-efficient
country.
