Beijing Store Greets Customers
RMB100, 000 Donated for Local Environment Protection

(December 7, 2005, Beijing) Today, the world’s largest
retailer Wal-Mart celebrated the grand opening of its third store
in Beijing, Wal-Mart Supercenter Beijing Xuanwumen Store, located
at No. 28, Xuanwai Road, Xuanwumen District. Mr. Wu Gaoshan,
Magistrate of Xuanwu government and Mr. Joe Hatfield, Senior
Vice President of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and President & CEO
of Wal-Mart Asia attended the ceremony.
At the opening of Wal-Mart Supercenter Xuanwumen Store, Wal-Mart
donated RMB 100,000 to Beijing Xuanwu District Environmental
Protection Agency for environment protection initiatives in the
local community.
Mr. Stanley Yu, Vice President of Wal-Mart China said that On
July 7th, 2003, Wal-Mart opened its first Beijing store—Sam’s
club in Shijingshan District. In May this year, Wal-Mart Supercenter
Zhichun Road Store in Haidian District was opened, both stores
have accomplished satisfactory achievements not only in serving
local customers but also in carrying out community activities.
Wal-Mart has integrated into the communities.
Many Beijing local product Items including household electronic
appliances, dried foods, dairy products, vegetables, deli, tobacco,
alcohol, candies, etc have been brought into Wal-Mart’s
local and even national procurement. These local products not
only enrich Wal-Mart’s merchandise variety but also benefit
Beijing’s manufacturing industry. Under the great support
of Xuanwu District Government, Wal-Mart’s third Beijing
store was successfully opened. The new store will be very well
accepted by the local consumers and will contribute to the local
economy.
Located at Basement One and Ground Floor, No. 28, Xuanwai Road,
Xuanwu District., 400 meters away to the south of Xuanwumen Metro
Station, Wal-Mart Supercenter Xuanwumen Store covers a construction
area of 18,000 square meters and carries about 20,000 items,
including fresh foods, apparels, household electrical appliances,
cosmetics, etc., and has three self-support service areas featuring
optical service, jewelry and one-hour photo service.
Supercenter is the major business format of Wal-Mart China, providing
customers with high quality merchandise at low prices under the
philosophy of “Every Day Low Price”. Wal-Mart associates
are committed to providing the customers with great shopping
experience. With over 20,000 merchandising items, the new Wal-Mart
store will be able to provide customers with a “One Stop
Shopping” experience, saving them time and money. As a
return to customers’ support, Wal-Mart offered great value
merchandise and provided a series of retailtainment events during
the grand opening.
Wal-Mart China opened its first Supercenter and SAM’S CLUB
in August 1996 in Shenzhen. Till now, Wal-Mart China has opened
51 stores in 24 cities, including Shenzhen, Kunming, Fuzhou,
Dalian, Xiamen, Shantou, Dongguan, Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang,
Changsha, Beijing, Nanchang, Jinan, Qingdao, Tianjin, Nanjing,
Nanning, Wuhan, Guiyang, Taiyuan, Chongqing and Jinjiang. Wal-Mart
Supercenter Beijing Xuanwumen Store is the 52nd unit opened in
China.
