Wal-Mart China Won 2005
TOP 20 Best Employers in China

In a survey sponsored by Fortune China Magazine and Watson Wyatt
Worldwide, Wal-Mart has been recognized as one of the TOP 20 Best
Employers in China. Stephanie Wong, Vice President of Human Resource,
attended the ceremony. The year’s survey lasts 6 months to
find out the “Best Companies to Work For” from the
standpoint of Chinese employees.10 Local enterprises and 10 foreign
enterprises won the honor.
Over 50,000 respondents from more than a dozen industries answered
the questionnaire which covers 100 items classified in 10 groups.
Survey items range from employee loyalty, staff performance to
compensation & benefits and leadership.
Wal-Mart has been chosen because of the following aspects:
Clear Communication: Clear communication with staff on business
goals and personal matters like pay, benefits and career development
etc.
High Job Satisfaction: Provide staff with learning opportunity
and encourage them by strengthening their sense of personal accomplishment.
Positive working environment: Provide staff with necessary tools
and facility as well as a safety working environment.
Team Work Spirit: Foster a culture that enables staff to develop
team work spirit in their immediate organizations and cross departments.
Prior to that, Wal-Mart China was awarded “TOP 50 Academician-recognized
Best Employers in China” jointly published by Economic Observer
and Chinahr.com, and “2004 Most Admired Company in China” by
Fortune Magazine.
