Wal-Mart’s 50th Store Greets Changsha Customers
RMB100, 000 Donation to Local Charity

(November 17, 2005, Changsha) Today, the world’s largest retailer Wal-Mart celebrated the grand opening of its second Changsha store, Wal-Mart Supercenter Changsha Yuhuating Store, located at No. 421, Shaoshan Road Central, Yuhua District. Mr. Yi jialiang , Secretary of CPC Yuhua District Committee attended the ceremony. In addition, attendees from Wal-Mart include Mr. Joe Hatfield, President & CEO of Wal-Mart Asia and Mr. Stanley Yu, COO of Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co., Ltd.

At the opening of Wal-Mart Changsha Supercenter Yuhuating Store, Wal-Mart donated RMB 100,000 to World Wheelchair Fund to sponsor wheelchair project for people with physical disabilities in Changsha. The project is expected to realize the dream of more than 400 physical disabled people in Changsha.

Mr. Stanley Yu, Vice President and COO of Wal-Mart China said that Wal-Mart has been successfully operating 49 outlets in 23 cities since it entered China nine years ago. With its “Every Day Low Prices” operation philosophy and quality customer service, Wal-Mart has obtained the acknowledgement from Chinese customers. In 2003, Wal-Mart opened its first Changsha store in Huangxing Road South, which has accomplished satisfactory achievement. Many Hunan local products have been brought into Wal-Mart’s local and even national procurement. Items include household electronic appliance, dry grocery, dairy, vegetable, deli, tobacco, alcohol, candies, etc. These local products, accounting for 25% of the entire assortment in the store, not only enrich Wal-Mart’s merchandise variety but also bring along the development of Changsha manufacturing industry. With the great support of Changsha Government, Wal-Mart’s second Changsha store successfully opens. The new store is anticipated to win popularity among local consumers and expected to further promote local economy as well.

Located at Yuhuating Shopping Mall 2nd ~ 3rd floor, No. 421, Shaoshan Road Central, Shaoshan District, Wal-Mart Supercenter Yuhuating Store sells about 20,000 items, including fresh food, apparels, household electrical appliances, cosmetics, etc., and has self-support services featuring optical service, jewelry and film development.

Supercenter is the major business format of Wal-Mart China, providing customers with high quality merchandise at low prices under the philosophy of “Every Day Low Price”. Wal-Mart associates are committed to providing the customers with great shopping experience. With over 20,000 merchandising items, the new Wal-Mart store will be able to provide customers with a “One Stop Shopping” experience, saving them time and money. In return for the customers’ support, Wal-Mart will offer great promotional valued merchandise and provide a series of retailtainment events during the grand opening.

Wal-Mart China opened its first Supercenter and SAM’S CLUB in August 1996 in Shenzhen. Till now, Wal-Mart China has been successfully operating 49 stores in 23 cities, including Shenzhen, Kunming, Fuzhou, Dalian, Xiamen, Shantou, Dongguan, Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang, Changsha, Beijing, Nanchang, Jinan, Qingdao, Tianjin, Nanjing, Nanning, Changsha, Guiyang, Taiyuan and Chongqing. Wal-Mart Supercenter Changsha Yuhuating Store is the 50th unit in China.
