Beijing Haidian District Xingzhi Experimental School operates
in three campuses with 2789 students and 136 teachers. Students
are from 24 provinces and 7 ethnic minority regions; teachers are
from 16 provinces, districts, and cities. Most teachers are retirees
or fresh graduates from Teaching Colleges, which include 78 of
them who hold college Associate Degrees and higher. The primary
schools use the equivalent textbook with Beijing district school
systems, and the junior high uses the national standard editions
published by Renmin Publishing House. The main campus is located
at 2 Shunaghuaishu Village, Sijiqing Town, Haidian District.
Beijing Haidian District Xingzhi Experimental School was originally
set up for farmer children to continue education in urban area
by Li Sumei, a private school teacher from Henan Province on 1st
of September 1994. The school commits to educate farmer children
in order to improve the national education level, which is warmly
welcomed by students and their families. Everyone feels greatly
benefited since society pledges terrific assistance to them all
the time. Especially, in the recent two years, with tremendous
collaboration from Haidian District Government and Haidian Education
Department along with Sijiqin local government, the school has
attained the national education standard. On December 10, 2003,
the school was successfully registered as a private school with
the Haidian Education Department and obtained legal educational
certificates. Thus, this has ended “both students and teachers
work under an illegal school system environment.”
Ten years ago, the school was originated to eliminate illiteracy
among farmer children in the urban areas. After ten years’ efforts,
families, students, and teachers have come together to achieve
a new era. However, two most important problems overcast the school,
which have greatly affected students. One of the difficulties is
that the school campus locates in temporary housing projects. Thus,
students cannot enjoy a stable studying environment. In addition,
the other difficulty is that most students come from low-income
families. Due to their financial difficulties, school has to lower
tuition fees, which has created a huge problem for school. Consequently,
school is limited to study aids and equipment purchase that has
disadvantaged student’s development from learning. Furthermore,
school strives to secure a stable educational environment and adequate
learning facilities for all students.
